Honda Sensing is a set of safety features that help reduce the risk of collisions by steering correction, braking, and warning the driver, if required. It uses an efficient radar system and cameras positioned around the vehicle.
Based on the driving preferences, one can switch on or off the Honda sensing features. It was available for the first time in 2015 CR-V touring. However, Honda sensing is a standard part of the design from the 2018 Honda models-Clarity, Sedans, Honda CR-V, and Ridgeline Pickup.
Below mentioned are a few of the features of Honda Sensing.
Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
This feature assists in stopping or applying brake pressure on your car when it senses an unavoidable collision with the vehicle in the front.
To use the CMBS feature, press the safety support switch. Use the left selector wheel to select the CMBS symbol. When the system is off, the CMBS indicator gets enabled.
Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
In case your vehicle drifts off the lane while the turn signal is off, LKAS corrects the steering of your car.
Use the main button on the right of the steering wheel to get the LKAS indicator to appear on the multi-information screen. Now press the LKAS option to get a dotted road outline on the screen.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
This feature helps to set a certain speed for your vehicle which maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front. For instance, if the car in front slows down, this feature will aid in slowing down your vehicle accordingly. On the other hand, once the car in the front speeds up, your vehicle will accelerate to the required speed.
Use the main button on the right of the steering wheel to get the ACC indicator on the multi-information screen. Accelerate to the required speed, take your foot off the accelerator, and press the “set” button. The plus and minus buttons help to adjust the set speed value.
Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)
This feature comes with a small camera that detects road markers. The RDM alerts you when required. It helps by steering torque to automatically guide back to the road or braking, if necessary.
To enable the RDM feature, press the safety support switch. Use the left selector wheel to choose the RDM symbol.
Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)
This feature uses a small camera to alert you of speed limit signs with a visual icon.
This feature is always on. It indicates road sign details, such as the current speed limit your vehicle has just passed, showing it on the driver information display.
Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
This feature monitors the road ahead and gives an audiovisual alert if the path in front of you is not clear. It uses the same camera as the LKAS. In the case of a possible collision, it sets out a series of warnings. Also, if the driver fails to react promptly in a fatal situation, this feature will enable the vehicle to apply the brake pressure automatically.
Honda sensing package affirms the brand is devoted to providing its customers with the safest possible vehicles it can produce.
